How to fit your Eson 2:
The initial fitting of your Eson 2 is part of what makes this mask so simple for you to use. Because it uses the classic 4 point headgear, this mask provides a very stable and reliable fit. When fitted properly.
Step by Step initial fitting instructions:
Make sure that you have removed all packaging. Including the plastic cover that goes over the cushion.
Grab the mask by the bottom straps and allow the mask frame to hang downwards.
Pull the bottom straps over your head and down below your ears. The seal and frame of the mask will rest against your forehead at this point.
Pull down the mask frame and cushion over top of your nose. The seal must be surrounding your nose and the blue top strap will be sitting on your forehead.
Now you will gently tighten the headstraps, starting with the top straps. Pull from each side equally as you tighten to ensure that the mask stays centered on your face.
Adjust the mask as needed to accomplish an effective seal and to remain comfortable.

How to Clean and Maintain your Eson 2:

Disassembly for Cleaning:
Unhook your headgear clips from the mask frame.
Slide the forehead straps of the headgear downwards from the top of the mask frame.
Next, remove the silicone seal from the mask frame.
Then, remove the swivel from the elbow.
Remove the diffuser from the elbow.
Cleaning the Eson 2 Mask:
Hand-wash your mask in soap dissolved in lukewarm water. Do not soak for more than 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water, ensuring that all soap residue has been removed.
Leave all parts to dry out of direct sunlight before reassembling.
Cleaning your Headgear and Diffuser:
Hand-wash your headgear in soap dissolved in lukewarm water. Do not soak your headgear for more than 10 minutes.
Gently hand-wash the diffuser in soap dissolved in lukewarm water, avoid scrubbing the material. Do not soak your diffuser for more than 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water, ensuring that all soap residue has been removed.

How to setup your Luna 2 CPAP:
Setting up your Luna 2 is a very simple process. The first step is obviously to unpack the contents of the carry case. This should include: the CPAP, Air Filter, Power Adapter, Power Cord, CPAP Tube, SD Card (may be pre-installed), and enclosed documents (user manual). Next you will connect the power cord to the power adapter. Then connect the power adapter to the back of the CPAP machine. Be careful not to bend any of the prongs inside the cord plug. A small green light come on below the screen to indicate power. You will then want to place the device on a level surface near your bed. Finally, you will connect the CPAP tube to the air outlet on the CPAP and then to your CPAP mask on the other end of the tube.
How to Maintain your Luna 2 CPAP:
Maintenance is also very simple on this CPAP. First thing that you need to make certain you maintain is your water chamber. This is the place where things can go bad in a hurry. If you leave stagnant water in the chamber and fail to clean it regularly, you will be growing some nasty things. For best results empty the water chamber daily, and wash with soap and water at least once per week. The only other maintenance on the Luna 2 is the inlet filter. If you have a disposable, then you need to change it once per month or as needed. If you have a washable, then a quick rinse will work great once per week.
How long will my Luna 2 CPAP last?
The Luna 2 lifespan is similar to most other CPAP models. It is rated at a 5 year “useful life”. Of course that doesn’t mean that on day 1,826 that the device will suddenly stop working. It is simply an estimation on how long this CPAP should work properly. As with anything, a CPAP can only be expected to perform accurately for so long. If you have a CPAP that is over 5 years old, then you are operating on borrowed time. While the CPAP may not have physically failed yet, it’s accuracy on the pressure may not be what it used to be.

As with anything, it is important to make your CPAP mask last as long as you can. Not only is it important to save the money, but being wasteful is never good either. Many CPAP users replace their CPAP mask and mask seal as often as insurance allows. This is great if your insurance is paying for it in full (usually not), but do you actually need to change it that often?
How long does a CPAP mask last?
CPAP Masks can last a very long time. In many cases customer get months out of their mask. However, while the frame and headgear can last that long the top tier performance does not last that long. It is true that the plastic frame of the mask and the headgear really don’t need to be replaced often at all. With that being said the silicone seal that touches your face should not be used that long. In most cases you will get about 1-3 months of good use out of a silicone seal. To know how long your seal should last you would have to ask, “How do I know when I should replace my mask seal?”.
How do I know it is time to change out my CPAP Mask Cushion/Seal?
The obvious answer to this question is that you would replace the CPAP Mask seal when it doesn’t work anymore. While that sounds like a common sense response there is certainly more to consider. In our years of dealing with CPAP users we have notice that a lot of people only replace the seal when something dramatic happens, like a tear in the silicone. In our experience there are usually signs that you can look for to know in advance of a complete mask failure.
Obvious signs that it is time to change out your seal:
Overtightening your mask– If you find yourself tightening the mask headgear more and more as the days go by, then it is probably time for a cushion change. We find that most people do not notice the gradual decline of the seal. Once they replace it they are usually surprised at home much better it feels and performs.
Skin irritation or abrasion– A lot of times this will happen at the bridge of the nose or on the nostrils, depending on the style of CPAP mask that you use. This is happening for two reasons usually. The silicone, over time, will harden and become stiff. That causes significant abrasion. The other reason is usually the reason above. Overtightening the mask due to seal issues. In either case a new seal can remedy that for you pretty quickly.
Excess leaking– The first thing that you need to ask yourself when your mask is leaking too much is, “Did my mask ever seal well?”. If the answer to that is yes, then you probably should order yourself a new seal for your mask. In a lot of cases we have customers that call and want to try a new mask 30-60 days into their therapy. Most of the time the resolution to the leak is not a new mask style, but a replacement seal for your current mask.
Can’t find a good sleeping position– When you first started with this mask you could sleep on your side or stomach with no issue at all. Now you can barely keep things working well even on your back. This is a sign that the mask seal is going bad.
How much do new CPAP Masks cost?
CPAP masks can range widely on cost. Most of them are $80-150, depending on the make and model. However, as we have discussed above, you may not actually need a whole new mask. The good news is that the mask seal is a fraction of the cost of the entire mask kit. Your headgear and hard plastic frame can last for a long time. So why spend the money? Our recommendation is to always try a new seal before spending the money on full mask kit.
How to save money on CPAP mask seals?
Saving money on your CPAP mask seal does not have to involve random websites that have nothing to do with CPAP Equipment. Chances are that if you are buying from one of these 3rd party website you aren’t getting premium product. Most of them are selling overstock inventory or returned items that can no longer be sold as premium inventory. If those silicone parts have been sitting in a warehouse for 6 months, then their is a pretty good chance it’s performance will not be anywhere near what a new seal should be. How to maintain your CPAP Mask Seal?
Proper maintenance and cleaning makes everything last longer. CPAP Mask seals are no different at all. Two things that cause the most deterioration or the mask are storage conditions and your body. Both of those things can be helped with proper maintenance and cleaning.
Your Body– Believe it or not your body heat, your sweat and the oils from your skin are not good for soft silicone at all. While some of that is unavoidable proper cleaning can help significantly. For instance, cleaning your mask seal with a mixture of dish soap and water or CPAP Mask Wipes will help to remove sweat and oil. This will help it last much longer
Bad storage conditions– Heat, humidity and even the oxygen in the air all play a roll in deteriorating your mask seal. You can open up your mask seal and just set it on the table next to a mask seal that is still in the original packaging. Within weeks you will notice a difference between the two. You can help yourself though. Store your current mask in a drawer or covered area. Also make sure that you store any extra supplies in a climate controlled area. Most of these issues are really unavoidable. Once you open your mask seal, the clock is ticking.

A HME or Heat Moisture Exchanger is a device that you use in-line with a breathing tube to keep moisture in your airway. In a natural breathing process your upper airway will add moisture to the air that you are breathing. This ensures that your lungs operate correctly and that you remain comfortable. For people that use CPAP or people that have a tracheostomy you will probably have to add more moisture to the air to make sure that you are comfortable and that your lungs function correctly. A HME does this for people in those scenarios that can not use a humidifier system. We see that need for a HME on Travel CPAPs or CPAP Machines that do not have integrated heated humidifiers.
How does a HME Work?
A HME captures moisture from your exhaled breath so that as you inhale that moisture can be reused. It is usually is a foam-like or corrugated paper material encased in plastic. It is designed to connect to the breathing tube near the point of exhalation. Some of them are treated with a solution that helps them retain moisture as the moisture passes by in your exhalation. When you inhale that moisture is picked up in the air and transferred by to you.
How do you install a HME?
A HME connects in your breathing tube close to the point of exhalation. On a CPAP Machine this is usually at the connection between the CPAP Mask and the CPAP Tubing. This allows it to collect the maximum amount of moisture as you exhale. There are a few Universal HMEs that are designed to fit moist CPAP machines. These are usually connections of 22mm. However, there are a few of them that are designed to fit specific CPAP Machines. An example of this would be the Humidix made by ResMed. It is built to fit only the AirMini Travel CPAP. The Humidx integrates directly into either the CPAP Mask or the CPAP Mask junction.
Can I use a HME on my CPAP?
Yes, using a HME on CPAP is a very common thing to do. It is mainly done when you are using your CPAP without a heated humidifier. For instance, most Travel CPAPsdo not have heated humidifiers. In this case using one is a great option to keep you from drying out while traveling with your CPAP. Some CPAP users have the ability to separate their humidifier from the CPAP. This allows them to travel without the complication and extra clutter of the humidifier. In this case using one would work great as well.
How long does a HME last?
A HME is a disposable product and is not designed for long term use. Not only will the performance of it fall over time, but the cleanliness is something to consider as well. If you are exhaling into something night after night, eventually things start to grow. Things like Mold, Mildew and Bacteria. Most HMEs are designed to work for between 1 week and 4 weeks. The Humidix by ResMed that we discussed above is good for 30 days. Our generic Universal HME is good for about 7 days. So it is important to change them frequently and to have extras.
