The main feature that we like about the Eson 2 is the classic design. There are so many “new and improved” CPAP Mask styles out there. Sometimes those masks do a great job for a lot of people, but many times they just provide more complications. The Eson 2 is a standard nasal CPAP mask. That means that it has a 4 point headgear and triangular shaped cushion that surrounds your nose. However, that doesn’t mean that the “classic” style can’t provide you with a modern fit.
New Features of the Eson 2:
The Eson 2 may be a very classically styled Nasal CPAP Mask, but it has some features that make it leaps and bounds better than previous models. Many old school nasal masks are clunky and hard to work with. There were too many pieces and parts that have to be disassembled and cleaned. They were also typically very heavy and bulky on the face. The improvements on the Eson 2 take all of that to the next level.
Eson 2 Features:
RollFit Seal– This proprietary seal was designed by Fisher and paykel to provide a great seal ,but to also help with one of the major downsides on many other Nasal Masks. That would be the irritation or abrasion at the bridge of the nose. The new cushion automatically adjusts itself to account for your unique nasal bridge.
Intuitive headgear– This headgear is legitimate high quality. For years we have spent time trying to get CPAP users to fit their headgear by removing bottom straps and carefully reattaching after placing it on your head. The Eson 2 headgear has the ability to stretch so that you can leave the straps connected and pull the mask right over your head. Without compromising the fit of the mask.
Multi-size Mask Frame– The frame on the Eson 2 allows you to connect all 3 sizes to the same frame. It is also available as a fitpack. This means that you can buy one mask and almost certainly guarantee that one of the 3 sizes included will fit you.
VisiBlue Highlights– There are obvious blue colored connection points to make sure that disassembling your mask and reassembling it is much easier than previous Nasal CPAP Mask models.
Ultra-quiet exhalation diffuser– The washable diffuser on the elbow of the mask allows you to exhale silently and without blasting your bed partner with your exhalation. As a person that sleeps next to a CPAP user, I can tell you that it a game changer for me.
How to fit your Eson 2:
The initial fitting of your Eson 2 is part of what makes this mask so simple for you to use. Because it uses the classic 4 point headgear, this mask provides a very stable and reliable fit. When fitted properly.
Step by Step initial fitting instructions:
Make sure that you have removed all packaging. Including the plastic cover that goes over the cushion.
Grab the mask by the bottom straps and allow the mask frame to hang downwards.
Pull the bottom straps over your head and down below your ears. The seal and frame of the mask will rest against your forehead at this point.
Pull down the mask frame and cushion over top of your nose. The seal must be surrounding your nose and the blue top strap will be sitting on your forehead.
Now you will gently tighten the headstraps, starting with the top straps. Pull from each side equally as you tighten to ensure that the mask stays centered on your face.
Adjust the mask as needed to accomplish an effective seal and to remain comfortable.
Why the Eson 2 is a great choice for those struggling with Nasal Pillows:
If you are struggling with a Nasal pillow CPAP mask, then you are not alone. Nasal pillows are certainly the simplest and the least invasive option of CPAP mask, but that doesn’t mean that there are no drawbacks. One of the main issues that we encounter with Nasal Pillows are new users that feel like they cannot breath normally. In many cases that is because you are trying to exhale through small holes against the Positive Pressure from the CPAP. That is where a mask like the Eson 2 can change the game for you. It is very small, lightweight and easy to use. This means that it has many of the features that drew you to a Nasal Pillow Mask. However, with a Nasal CPAP Mask you can exhale much easier. Many users notice a massive difference almost immediately.
How to Clean and Maintain your Eson 2:
The Eson 2 must be cleaned and maintained on daily basis according to Fisher and Paykel. The Mask and Frame are designed to be cleaned daily. The headgear and diffuser should be cleaned at least once per week. Check out the detailed instructions below for step by step cleaning instructions. Details can be found in the Eson 2 User Manual.
Disassembly for Cleaning:
Unhook your headgear clips from the mask frame.
Slide the forehead straps of the headgear downwards from the top of the mask frame.
Next, remove the silicone seal from the mask frame.
Then, remove the swivel from the elbow.
Remove the diffuser from the elbow.
Cleaning the Eson 2 Mask:
Hand-wash your mask in soap dissolved in lukewarm water. Do not soak for more than 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water, ensuring that all soap residue has been removed.
Leave all parts to dry out of direct sunlight before reassembling.
Cleaning your Headgear and Diffuser:
Hand-wash your headgear in soap dissolved in lukewarm water. Do not soak your headgear for more than 10 minutes.
Gently hand-wash the diffuser in soap dissolved in lukewarm water, avoid scrubbing the material. Do not soak your diffuser for more than 10 minutes.
Rinse thoroughly with fresh water, ensuring that all soap residue has been removed.
Leave all parts to dry out of direct sunlight before reassembling.

Keep in mid that the elbow and the headgear clips are not intended to be removed from the mask by the home user. If removed unintentionally, refer to the technical information page of the user manual for assembly.

The Luna 2 is a great CPAP that is gaining a lot of traction. It is manufactured by 3B Products who has been a CPAP manufacturer for quite a few years now. The Luna 2 has probably been their most successful CPAP model so far. Overall we have had great success with this CPAP for the last couple years.
What sets the Luna 2 apart?
The Luna 2 has been a very reliable alternative to some of the more pricey big name CPAP options. It gives CPAP user a genuine lower cost alternative for treating Sleep Apnea. Much like other models it has all the features and benefits. Such as: Integrated Heated Humidifier, Compliance and Therapy reporting, standard tubing connections, therapy comfort settings, and a great Auto-Titrating algorithm. It is also very reliable. Out of the many Luna 2 CPAPs that we have sold we have had very few failures. Additionally, it is very quiet. Many of the low cost CPAPs out there are noisy. At under 38dB, this CPAPs is as quiet as any other available.
How to setup your Luna 2 CPAP:
Setting up your Luna 2 is a very simple process. The first step is obviously to unpack the contents of the carry case. This should include: the CPAP, Air Filter, Power Adapter, Power Cord, CPAP Tube, SD Card (may be pre-installed), and enclosed documents (user manual). Next you will connect the power cord to the power adapter. Then connect the power adapter to the back of the CPAP machine. Be careful not to bend any of the prongs inside the cord plug. A small green light come on below the screen to indicate power. You will then want to place the device on a level surface near your bed. Finally, you will connect the CPAP tube to the air outlet on the CPAP and then to your CPAP mask on the other end of the tube.
How to Maintain your Luna 2 CPAP:
Maintenance is also very simple on this CPAP. First thing that you need to make certain you maintain is your water chamber. This is the place where things can go bad in a hurry. If you leave stagnant water in the chamber and fail to clean it regularly, you will be growing some nasty things. For best results empty the water chamber daily, and wash with soap and water at least once per week. The only other maintenance on the Luna 2 is the inlet filter. If you have a disposable, then you need to change it once per month or as needed. If you have a washable, then a quick rinse will work great once per week.
How long will my Luna 2 CPAP last?
The Luna 2 lifespan is similar to most other CPAP models. It is rated at a 5 year “useful life”. Of course that doesn’t mean that on day 1,826 that the device will suddenly stop working. It is simply an estimation on how long this CPAP should work properly. As with anything, a CPAP can only be expected to perform accurately for so long. If you have a CPAP that is over 5 years old, then you are operating on borrowed time. While the CPAP may not have physically failed yet, it’s accuracy on the pressure may not be what it used to be.
Pros and Cons of the Luna 2 CPAP:
Pros:
Very Reliable- we have had a very low failure rate for this CPAP, and have not had much negative feedback related to performance at all.
Very Quiet- under 38dB makes it as quiet as any other out there.
Easy to operate- Pretty much as simple as on and off.
Similar therapy features to main stream CPAPs
Cons:
Larger than other models which can be tough for travel
Heavier than other models which can also make travel tougher
Compliance and reporting- while you can perform your own download for compliance (view our how to video on that here) your Dr may not be familiar with how to do so.
Luna 2 CPAP Physical Features:
Humidifier Indicator– This allows you to set your heated humidity setting on your Luna 2 CPAP. The setting is indicated by small blue bars which you can increase by the control knob to the right or left. Right to increase humidity and left to decrease humidity.
Display Screen– The 3.5 inch LCD screen allows you to navigate the CPAP menu with ease.
Power Indicator– Represented by a small green light shows you that your Luna 2 is connected to proper electric power.
Mute Button– Allows you to silence alarms like high leak or mask leak alarms.
Control Knob– Navigate the Patient Level Menu by twisting the control knob to the right or left. Press the knob to select and to confirm changes.
Ramp Button– Use the ramp feature to reduce pressure for a specific period of time, and gradually increase back to therapy pressure.
SD Card Slot– Insert the card into the card slot to transfer usage and compliance data.
Air Outlet– Allows you to connect your 22mm CPAP tubing to the back of the Luna 2 CPAP.
Communications port– Allows for direct connection to computer for updates and clinical data transfer.
Air Inlet– Houses the filter which should be rinsed weekly to promote good air flow through the CPAP.
Power Port– This is where your power supply will connect to your Luna 2 CPAP.
As with anything, it is important to make your CPAP mask last as long as you can. Not only is it important to save the money, but being wasteful is never good either. Many CPAP users replace their CPAP mask and mask seal as often as insurance allows. This is great if your insurance is paying for it in full (usually not), but do you actually need to change it that often?
How long does a CPAP mask last?
CPAP Masks can last a very long time. In many cases customer get months out of their mask. However, while the frame and headgear can last that long the top tier performance does not last that long. It is true that the plastic frame of the mask and the headgear really don’t need to be replaced often at all. With that being said the silicone seal that touches your face should not be used that long. In most cases you will get about 1-3 months of good use out of a silicone seal. To know how long your seal should last you would have to ask, “How do I know when I should replace my mask seal?”.
How do I know it is time to change out my CPAP Mask Cushion/Seal?
The obvious answer to this question is that you would replace the CPAP Mask seal when it doesn’t work anymore. While that sounds like a common sense response there is certainly more to consider. In our years of dealing with CPAP users we have notice that a lot of people only replace the seal when something dramatic happens, like a tear in the silicone. In our experience there are usually signs that you can look for to know in advance of a complete mask failure.
Obvious signs that it is time to change out your seal:
Overtightening your mask– If you find yourself tightening the mask headgear more and more as the days go by, then it is probably time for a cushion change. We find that most people do not notice the gradual decline of the seal. Once they replace it they are usually surprised at home much better it feels and performs.
Skin irritation or abrasion– A lot of times this will happen at the bridge of the nose or on the nostrils, depending on the style of CPAP mask that you use. This is happening for two reasons usually. The silicone, over time, will harden and become stiff. That causes significant abrasion. The other reason is usually the reason above. Overtightening the mask due to seal issues. In either case a new seal can remedy that for you pretty quickly.
Excess leaking– The first thing that you need to ask yourself when your mask is leaking too much is, “Did my mask ever seal well?”. If the answer to that is yes, then you probably should order yourself a new seal for your mask. In a lot of cases we have customers that call and want to try a new mask 30-60 days into their therapy. Most of the time the resolution to the leak is not a new mask style, but a replacement seal for your current mask.
Can’t find a good sleeping position– When you first started with this mask you could sleep on your side or stomach with no issue at all. Now you can barely keep things working well even on your back. This is a sign that the mask seal is going bad.
How much do new CPAP Masks cost?
CPAP masks can range widely on cost. Most of them are $80-150, depending on the make and model. However, as we have discussed above, you may not actually need a whole new mask. The good news is that the mask seal is a fraction of the cost of the entire mask kit. Your headgear and hard plastic frame can last for a long time. So why spend the money? Our recommendation is to always try a new seal before spending the money on full mask kit.
How to save money on CPAP mask seals?
Saving money on your CPAP mask seal does not have to involve random websites that have nothing to do with CPAP Equipment. Chances are that if you are buying from one of these 3rd party website you aren’t getting premium product. Most of them are selling overstock inventory or returned items that can no longer be sold as premium inventory. If those silicone parts have been sitting in a warehouse for 6 months, then their is a pretty good chance it’s performance will not be anywhere near what a new seal should be. With that being said, there are good options to save. Here at CPAPmyway we have supply bundles that allow us to save you money on CPAP supplies. Those bundles can include a variety of supplies, mask seals alone or even custom supply bundles. These bundles will save you 40-50% on the mask seals and other supplies that you need.
How to maintain your CPAP Mask Seal?
Proper maintenance and cleaning makes everything last longer. CPAP Mask seals are no different at all. Two things that cause the most deterioration or the mask are storage conditions and your body. Both of those things can be helped with proper maintenance and cleaning.
Your Body– Believe it or not your body heat, your sweat and the oils from your skin are not good for soft silicone at all. While some of that is unavoidable proper cleaning can help significantly. For instance, cleaning your mask seal with a mixture of dish soap and water or CPAP Mask Wipes will help to remove sweat and oil. This will help it last much longer
Bad storage conditions– Heat, humidity and even the oxygen in the air all play a roll in deteriorating your mask seal. You can open up your mask seal and just set it on the table next to a mask seal that is still in the original packaging. Within weeks you will notice a difference between the two. You can help yourself though. Store your current mask in a drawer or covered area. Also make sure that you store any extra supplies in a climate controlled area. Most of these issues are really unavoidable. Once you open your mask seal, the clock is ticking.
If you are buying CPAP supplies on a regular basis, then you undoubtedly know that there are a bunch of places to get CPAP parts and pieces. Some places are cheap, but you really can’t tell who you are buying from. Other places cost more, but you know that you are working with a reputable dealer. Now you can have both. A great price from a reputable company.
What CPAP supplies do I really need?
That is a question that people do not ask often enough. The answer is that you need what you “actually need”. That may seem like a silly statement to make, but it is true. Too many CPAP users are replacing their CPAP supplies at the “recommended frequency” or as often as insurance “replacement coverage” is available. The fact of the matter is that you need to treat your CPAP supplies like you would other things in your life. Would you buy new tires for you car before they needed to be replaced? In most cases that is a firm “NO”. CPAP Supplies are the same. Our recommendation is to have a backup for everything, but only replace the supplies as needed. Replace your filters when you see discoloration. Change your mask cushion seal when the performance of the seal goes down. Change your tubing when it starts to deteriorate.
Where can I get CPAP Supplies?
We at CPAPmyway want to be the best option for your CPAP Supplies. Not only do we want to give you a great price, but we want you to get those supplies from a legitimate CPAP Supplier. There are a ton of low cost options out there, but how long have those silicone parts been sitting in some warehouse somewhere? Are those cheap supplies overstock from some company that went out of business 2 years ago? In a lot of cases you really can’t tell until you get the parts and they don’t last as long as they should. One thing for sure is that if you go with a legitimate supplier like CPAPmyway you know that you are receiving quality parts.
How does CPAPmyway save me money on CPAP Supplies?
At CPAPmyway we have developed strategic CPAP Supply bundles that give you the parts you need at a significant discount. Most of the parts really do not need to be replaced for a very long time. The frame of your CPAP mask can last for more than a year and the water chamber can go just as long. So why get those CPAP parts before they are needed. The way we see it, CPAP users need 3 things pretty often. You need: the Mask Cushion Seal, the filters for your CPAP, and tubing from time to time. Everyone is different on how often they need those parts. Here at CPAPmyway you can choose the strategic CPAP Supplies that you need at the frequency you need them. All at deep discounts.
How do the CPAP Supply bundles work?
Our CPAP Supply bundles give you the choice of what, how and when. You choose what CPAP Supplies you need. Then, you tell us how much you need . Finally, you choose the frequency of when you want to receive them. It is that easy. For instance, if you need Filters, Tubing and Replacement Mask Cushion Seal you can opt for our 90 day bundle. You get 6 filters, 1 tube and 3 replacement cushion seals. Per recommendations that should last you about 90 days. However, many of our customers get 6 months out of that bundle. Maybe you just need replacement Full Face CPAP Mask Cushions. Use our Full Face Cushion bundle and the more you buy the more you save.
A HME or Heat Moisture Exchanger is a device that you use in-line with a breathing tube to keep moisture in your airway. In a natural breathing process your upper airway will add moisture to the air that you are breathing. This ensures that your lungs operate correctly and that you remain comfortable. For people that use CPAP or people that have a tracheostomy you will probably have to add more moisture to the air to make sure that you are comfortable and that your lungs function correctly. A HME does this for people in those scenarios that can not use a humidifier system. We see that need for a HME on Travel CPAPs or CPAP Machines that do not have integrated heated humidifiers.
How does a HME Work?
A HME captures moisture from your exhaled breath so that as you inhale that moisture can be reused. It is usually is a foam-like or corrugated paper material encased in plastic. It is designed to connect to the breathing tube near the point of exhalation. Some of them are treated with a solution that helps them retain moisture as the moisture passes by in your exhalation. When you inhale that moisture is picked up in the air and transferred by to you.
How do you install a HME?
A HME connects in your breathing tube close to the point of exhalation. On a CPAP Machine this is usually at the connection between the CPAP Mask and the CPAP Tubing. This allows it to collect the maximum amount of moisture as you exhale. There are a few Universal HMEs that are designed to fit moist CPAP machines. These are usually connections of 22mm. However, there are a few of them that are designed to fit specific CPAP Machines. An example of this would be the Humidix made by ResMed. It is built to fit only the AirMini Travel CPAP. The Humidx integrates directly into either the CPAP Mask or the CPAP Mask junction.
Can I use a HME on my CPAP?
Yes, using a HME on CPAP is a very common thing to do. It is mainly done when you are using your CPAP without a heated humidifier. For instance, most Travel CPAPsdo not have heated humidifiers. In this case using one is a great option to keep you from drying out while traveling with your CPAP. Some CPAP users have the ability to separate their humidifier from the CPAP. This allows them to travel without the complication and extra clutter of the humidifier. In this case using one would work great as well.
How long does a HME last?
A HME is a disposable product and is not designed for long term use. Not only will the performance of it fall over time, but the cleanliness is something to consider as well. If you are exhaling into something night after night, eventually things start to grow. Things like Mold, Mildew and Bacteria. Most HMEs are designed to work for between 1 week and 4 weeks. The Humidix by ResMed that we discussed above is good for 30 days. Our generic Universal HME is good for about 7 days. So it is important to change them frequently and to have extras.
