What to Expect From Your Sleep Test, From Order to Results

Before You Order

If you've been diagnosed with sleep apnea before and you're just trying to update your prescription to buy a new machine or replace broken equipment, this is not the product you need. CPAPmyway offers a separate CPAP Prescription Service for that scenario, which is faster and less expensive than re-testing. The Home Sleep Apnea Test is intended for first-time testing.


What Arrives at Your Door

Your test kit ships within one business day of your order and arrives in 3 to 4 business days with standard shipping. Inside the package, you'll find the ResMed ApneaLink Air recording device, the sensors needed to capture your sleep data (a nasal cannula for airflow, a chest belt for respiratory effort, and a finger pulse oximeter), and a prepaid return shipping label. You'll also receive an email link to the instructional video that walks you through setup.


The Night of the Test

You'll attach the sensors before bed following the instructions in the kit and the video. The device has a single start/stop button and uses light indicators to confirm everything is recording correctly. Sleep as you normally would. In the morning, you stop the recording, remove the sensors, and pack everything back up. Do not delay returning the device. The test must be performed and shipped back within two days of receiving it to avoid late fees.


Reading Your Data

Once the device returns to CPAPmyway, the recorded data is transferred to a board-certified sleep physician for interpretation. The physician evaluates your apnea-hypopnea index (AHI), oxygen desaturation events, snoring patterns, and respiratory effort to determine whether you have sleep apnea and how severe it is. Results typically reach our office within 1 to 2 business days after the device arrives back at our facility.


Your Results and Next Steps

You'll receive your sleep report along with a clear explanation of what it means. If you test positive for sleep apnea and need CPAP therapy, you can move directly into a machine and mask package through CPAPmyway, with your prescription already in hand. If your results are negative, the report still gives you and your primary care doctor useful baseline data about your sleep. Either way, you'll know where you stand.


About the Late Fee and Non-Return Policy

The kit must be performed and returned to us within a couple of days of receiving it. If you don't return the device within the required window, a daily late fee may be charged automatically to your payment method. If the device is never returned, you'll be charged the purchase price for the unit. These policies exist because the device is expensive and needs to circulate quickly so other customers can be tested.
