Quick answer: ResMed recommends the AirFit N20 for Mirage Activa LT users and the AirFit F20 for anyone on the AirFit F10 or Quattro FX. If you want to keep a forehead support on a nasal mask, look at the Mirage FX or Eson 2. If you're on a Quattro FX at high pressure, the Mirage Quattro still uses the same tacky, grippy silicone.

Which ResMed masks are being discontinued?
Three masks are on the way out. Here's each one, what ResMed recommends in its place, and the other options Clay suggests in the video.

What discontinued means for you
Discontinued means ResMed has stopped (or is about to stop) manufacturing these masks. Nothing happens to the mask you're wearing right now. It will keep working exactly the way it always has.
The catch is parts. Cushions wear out, headgear stretches, and frames crack. Once existing inventory is sold through, you won't be able to buy replacement pieces for these masks anywhere. CPAPmyway still has stock of all three masks and their parts, but it won't last much longer.
That leaves two reasonable paths: buy a few spare cushions and headgear now to extend the life of your current mask, or start trying a replacement mask while you still have a working backup. Many people do both.
Mirage Activa LT replacements
The Mirage Activa LT is one of the most unusual nasal masks ever made. As pressure fills the mask, the cushion actually pushes out toward your face and suctions into place. Clay compares it to the face-hugger from the Alien movies, and it's an apt description. It's a clever design, but it's also big, bulky, and built from a lot of parts, which is likely why ResMed is retiring it.
The good news is that there are several lighter nasal masks that do the same job. Which one fits you best mostly comes down to one question: do you want to keep a forehead support?
AirFit N20 or AirTouch N20 (ResMed's pick)
ResMed recommends the AirFit N20, which comes with a silicone cushion, or the AirTouch N20, which uses a soft memory foam cushion. Both are excellent masks. The big difference from the Activa LT is that the N20 has no forehead piece. It's much lighter and less cluttered, but if you rely on that forehead contact to keep the mask stable, it will feel different.
Mirage FX (keeps the forehead support)
If you like the stability of a forehead support and traditional four-point headgear, the ResMed Mirage FX is a natural step. It's a classic four-point nasal mask that's far lower profile and lighter than the Activa LT, and it stays in the ResMed family. A Mirage FX For Her version is also available.
Fisher & Paykel Eson 2
The Eson 2 is a favorite of Clay's. It's very quiet, very light, and fits a wide range of faces. It's also available as a FitPack with multiple cushion sizes in the box, and its headgear is some of the best quality you'll find on a nasal mask.
Fisher & Paykel Nova Nasal
If you're considering the N20, the Nova Nasal deserves a look alongside it. It's another high-quality mask with great headgear and no forehead piece, so it's the Fisher & Paykel counterpart to ResMed's recommendation.
AirFit F10 replacement
This one is simple. The AirFit F10 was the predecessor to the AirFit F20, and ResMed recommends F10 users move to the F20. Clay agrees.
Side by side, the F20 is a genuine upgrade in almost every way: the frame, the headgear, the connections, and how quiet it runs. If you're on the F10, the F20 is the move. If your skin is sensitive to silicone or you get red marks, the AirTouch F20 uses the same frame with a memory foam cushion instead. There's also an AirFit F20 for Her.
Quattro FX replacements
The Quattro FX is a more distinctive mask, with its old-school blue headgear and a look that earns a Bane comparison in the video. Two features set it apart:
- A spring-loaded frame that helps the cushion seal as you move.
- A tacky silicone cushion. It isn't silky like most modern masks. It's designed to grip the skin, which is why the Quattro FX seals so well at higher pressures.
ResMed recommends the AirFit F20 for Quattro FX users too, and for many people it will work well. If it doesn't, here are three options that are closer to what the Quattro FX does.
Mirage Quattro (for high pressures)
Don't confuse it with the Quattro FX. The standard Mirage Quattro is, to Clay's knowledge, the only mask left on the market with that same high-quality tacky silicone. If you're on a high pressure and the F20 or the other options below don't seal for you, the Mirage Quattro is the dependable old-school choice.
Rain8 4-Point Full Face (budget pick)
The Rain8 4-Point Full Face Mask fits a lot like the Quattro FX, with a similar design and similar exhalation, but its seal is a bit more flexible. It costs a fraction of what the big-brand masks do, which makes it a low-risk mask to try.
Siesta 2 Full Face (mid-tier pick)
The Siesta 2 Full Face is also very similar to the Quattro FX. It's low profile up near the eyes and has a nice spring-loaded cushion. Its exhalation design is different, and Clay considers it an upgrade over both the Quattro FX and the Rain8 when it comes to draft and noise.
Stock up on parts while they last
